Southend Adult Community College (SACC) is Southend-on-Sea City Council’s provider of education and training for young people (16–19), adults aged 19+, and learners with SEND. Each year, we support over 2,000 learners through inclusive, high-quality programmes that build skills, boost confidence, and support progression into further learning, work, or independent living.
From part-time Community Learning courses that support wellbeing and personal growth, to Family Learning and Community Outreach across the borough, we make learning accessible and relevant to people at every stage of life.
We offer a wide range of accredited courses, including English, maths, digital skills (ICT), ESOL, employability, and industry-recognised vocational qualifications. For young people aged 16+, our full-time Pathways Programme provides hands-on, career-focused learning.

Leaving no crumbs. 💙 A supportive stepping stone into education Our Pathways Catering courses are ideal for learners who may experience mental health challenges, have been homeschooled, or are not yet ready to move into mainstream education. We offer smaller class sizes, a nurturing environment, and dedicated pastoral support throughout your time at college – helping you build confidence at your own pace. Learners will develop hands-on catering skills, including knife skills, cooking and food preparation, kitchen safety, teamwork, and confidence-building in a supportive learning environment. If you’re aged 16–19 and unsure about your next steps after school – or if you’re a parent, carer, professional, family member, or know someone supporting a young person - our Pathways programme offers a supportive and structured route into learning, independence, and future progression. We offer a wide range of Pathways courses, with new courses added this year, designed to meet learners where they are and support a variety of interests, abilities, and goals. Pathways supports young people with EHCPs, those experiencing mental health challenges, and those who have been home educated, as well as learners who are simply looking for a smaller, more supportive step into further education. Learners are supported to build confidence, develop essential life and employability skills, and work towards positive next steps – whether that’s further education, training, or employment – at a pace that works for them.
