Paying for your Course

Paying for your Course

Fees

The fee/price payable is listed against each course or is available by contacting the college or on our website here.

If you’re aged 19 or over and looking to study a Level 3 qualification or higher, you may be eligible for an Advanced Learner Loan. This loan can help cover the cost of your course fees.

How do I pay the reduced/concessionary fee?

There are four levels of fees available for most courses:

  • Standard full fee
  • Commercial & Leisure course fee (We regularly run discounts and special promotions on our commercial and community courses throughout the year. Follow us on Facebook here to stay up to date with the latest offers and opportunities.)
  • Senior fee (available on some courses to learners over 65 and not in full time employment).
  • Benefit rate (available if you are in receipt of an income-based benefit).

You will need to provide evidence that you are receiving Universal Credit or an income-based state benefit. You will only need to submit one of these as proof of evidence dated within the last 3 months. If you receive, an income-based benefit that is not included in this list, please contact the College, as you may still be eligible.

  • Job Seeker Allowance
  • Employment Support Allowance
  • Housing Benefit
  • Council Tax Benefit
  • Working Tax Credits (income limits apply)
  • Universal Credit

Courses leading up to a Level 2 Qualification

If you wish to take a course that leads to a qualification at level 1 and 2 and you are in receipt of either JSA, ESA or Universal Credit your fees will be waived. You must provide a letter dated within 3 months from Job Centre Plus confirming receipt of benefit with your Enrolment Form.

Are you on a low income?

If you earn under £25,750 a year, you could get your course fully funded, meaning you won’t need to cover the cost yourself.

Speak to our Learner Services Team to find out more about the support available with exam fees, nursery costs and travel expenses.

Instalments

If you will find it difficult to pay your fee in one amount, it is possible to pay by instalments. There is a £15 non-refundable arrangement fee for each instalment plan.

Please note you will be required to set up the plan in person as a signature is required. You will also need to pay a deposit (dependable on the course fee) upon enrolling, this must be paid via card as we do not accept cash or cheque when setting up the plan.

I am in full-time education at another school or college. Will I have to pay the course fee?

If you are already in full-time education at another school or college, you cannot receive funding to study the same course with a different provider. However, you may still be eligible for funding if you choose a different course. Please ask us for details about course fees and funding options.

I need to cancel my enrolment

You are entitled to a 14 day cooling off period, from the date of booking your course, where you can have a full refund of fees (including any registration fees). After this period, you can have a full refund of your tuition fees, minus the £15.00 registration fee per course, provided we are notified before your second lesson of the course (for courses of a duration of more than five weeks). Unfortunately we are unable to process any refunds outside of this period unless the reason is medical, for this evidence is required.

If you need any further information about paying for your course, please contact us via our Online Web Chat, email sacc@southend-adult.ac.uk or call 01702 445700.
