Teaching positions

SEND Tutor

Salary: £33,764 – £41,401 per annum (pro rata, depending on qualifications)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Location: Southend Adult Community College

We’re looking for a dedicated SEND Tutor to design and deliver engaging, inclusive learning programmes for adults and young people with additional needs. You’ll help learners build independence, employability, and life skills through creative, technology-enhanced teaching and tailored support.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering high-quality, inclusive lessons

  • Supporting learners to achieve EHCP targets and develop essential life skills

  • Working collaboratively to manage behaviour and individual support plans

  • Monitoring progress and maintaining accurate learner records

  • Contributing to curriculum development and quality assurance

You’ll have a passion for supporting learners with additional needs and a commitment to inclusive education. Teaching qualifications or a willingness to work towards them are essential.

Evening and occasional weekend work may be required.

Functional Skills Tutor – English and Maths

Hourly Paid | Variable Hours
Pay: £26.33 – £30.11 per hour (AE01–AE04 scale)
Location: Southend Adult Community College

Join our growing Functional Skills team and help learners achieve success in English and Maths. We’re looking for passionate and experienced tutors to deliver high-quality, engaging lessons across Entry Level to Level 2, with opportunities to teach GCSE courses.

You will:

  • Plan and deliver effective and inclusive lessons

  • Support learners to achieve their qualifications and progress

  • Work collaboratively with the Functional Skills Lead and wider team

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning

What you’ll need:

  • Experience teaching Functional Skills English and/or Maths (GCSE desirable)

  • A recognised teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

This is an hourly-paid role with flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, across our Southend campuses and community venues.

King’s Trust Development Worker

Salary: £26,824 per annum (Level 5 SCP 8)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Location: Southend Adult Community College

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and motivated King’s Trust Development Worker to support the recruitment, development, and progression of learners on the King’s Trust Team Programme. You’ll play a key role in helping young people build confidence, gain essential life skills, and move into further education, training, or employment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the Team Leader with recruitment, delivery, and learner engagement

  • Providing individual learning plans and basic skills support

  • Assisting learners to secure meaningful work placements

  • Conducting reviews, evaluations, and progress assessments

  • Promoting the King’s Trust Programme to employers and community partners

You’ll need excellent communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to supporting young people’s development. Previous experience in youth work, education, or employability support is desirable.

This role requires an Enhanced DBS check.
Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.
