Working With The College
At Southend Adult Community College, we’re passionate about connecting education with the real world. We invite employers, businesses, and industry professionals to support our learners by sharing insights, opportunities, and experiences that can shape future careers. Here are a few ways you can get involved:
Job Fairs: Meet Future Talent
Our regular job fairs give learners the chance to explore different industries, meet potential employers, and think about where they want to take their careers.
These events are a valuable opportunity for you to connect with engaged learners, raise awareness of your organisation, and support the development of Southend’s future workforce.
Industry Talks: Share Your Story
Do you have an hour to spare? Talk to our learners about your role, your journey, and what it’s really like to work in your sector.
You might discuss:
How you got started in your career
What skills or qualifications are needed
The rewarding parts of your job – and the challenges
Tips and advice for those starting out
Talks can be held in person or virtually. Research shows that the more encounters young people have with employers, the better their chances of progressing into employment or training. Your time could make a real difference.
Workplace Visits: Open the Door
Could you host a small group of vocational learners at your workplace? A tour gives students valuable insight into what working life looks like, the variety of roles available, and the standards employers expect.
These visits help bridge the gap between learning and the world of work, giving learners the confidence and clarity to plan their next steps.
