GCSE Results Day

Learners collected their GCSE maths and English results today celebrating another year of pleasing results despite uncertain times. Learners and staff celebrated with Ice Cream donated by Rossi’s.

Results for 20/21 9-4 grades have increased in both maths (Grades 9-1 100%, Grades 9-4 64%) and (English Grades 9-1 96%, Grades 9-4 79%).  Our learner numbers reduced from last year due to continuing challenges in relation to the Covid-19 epidemic.

Learners have shown strength, determination and resilience in continuing with their studies, often from home, with excellent support from the maths and English tutors at the College.

This year the grades were determined by the College based on a range of evidence and were approved by the Awarding Organisation.

Learners’ motivation for completing the qualifications ranged from those who wish to pursue a career in areas such as midwifery to those who completed for their own personal development or to support their children.  Achievement of qualifications is a fantastic confidence boost and we see many of our learners’ progress through the levels and achieve their aims.

Most employers are looking for a minimum Level 2 in maths and English or a GCSE qualification.  Often our learners take a GCSE as a route into a university course.  These qualifications are free for adults along with a range of others courses.  Courses run at different times to suit different needs.
