French

We are a friendly group of French nationals and French speakers of all levels who meet regularly for lectures in French, small workshops, social events including film visits and musical evenings, conversation groups in a local café, dinners, Bastille Day petanque evening at a local pub and outings of interest. We are very pleased to welcome all those interested in the French language including students. The lectures are very varied with talks on subjects such as cuisine, places of interest, art, books, history – in fact anything with a French connection. We are affiliated to the Alliance Francaise de Londres and operate with their support.

German

Founded in June 1999 the Southend International German Club provides an opportunity for German-speaking people of any nationality or age to practice the language in a sociable and relaxed atmosphere.

Club nights are light-hearted and held mainly in German. The format is general conversation until everyone is there, then we have a varied programme with our own members presenting in German. The club meets from 8pm-11pm on the first Friday of the month at the Estuary Club, 1386 London Road, Leigh-on-Sea (at the corner of London Road and Canvey Road.)
