Childcare learners from the college are taking part in Britain's biggest nationwide competition for young people the Tenner Challenge.

Each learner is pledged £10 from the Tenner bank (our group are adding theirs together for a group venture) to do something enterprising, make a difference and give back. The competition helps young people develop key skills including creativity, positivity, resilience and problem solving, using real money to take calculated risks in business, whilst making a positive social impact.

The Childcare group are hosting a ‘Ladies Evening Supporting International Women’s Day’ this Monday, 27th March 5pm-7pm, Southchurch Centre, Ambleside Drive Southend SS1 2UP (there is plenty of free parking on site).

The event includes a raffle, the sale of bath bombs, ear rings, make–up and hair bows, nibbles and refreshments, nail painting and local women’s groups have been invited to have a stall or be guest speakers.

Helen Black Childcare Tutor said “I believe that this is a fantastic project that provides learners with useful, real-world skills and prepares them further for the world of work after their time at SACC. I am really proud of the learners who have worked so hard to plan, organise and cost this event, they will provide all the services on the night and are only supported by their tutors.”
