EVENT: June 2015 16-19 Year Olds Open Event

By June 2015, all young people must stay in education or training until the age of 18. However, they don’t have to stay at school; they can attend a full time college course, a Traineeship or an Apprenticeship.

Making the choice to leave school and start at college can seem like a huge deal, but it doesn’t have to be. Going to college encourages confidence and gives young people with a flair for a subject the chance to work hard and learn new skills.

Young people, especially those currently in school years 11 and 13 can find out about the range of Vocational and Traineeship opportunities on offer at our open event Wednesday 17 June 2015 2:00pm until 4:30pm. The event provides an opportunity to meet with the College’s dedicated 16-19 team.

SACC offers a range of full-time vocational pathways which all include Maths, English, ICT, PSHE, employability skills, work experience and accreditation in Beauty Therapy, Childcare, Customer Service or Sport allowing young people to interact with the world in which they want to work.

SACC was recently judged as a Good college with Outstanding features by Ofsted (November 2014). Its Childcare training was rated Outstanding by Ofsted in 2008 and 2014 and its success rates and retention rates are 15% above the national average. With amazing success stories to shout about and experienced staff that have worked in the industry they teach, SACC is proud to be a leading local provider of education and training for young people in Southend.

16-19 Manager Debbie Angel said “This is a perfect opportunity for young people to build both their qualification bank and their social and emotional skills, preparing them for work placement and volunteering opportunities. Our full-time vocational pathways are an ideal stepping stone towards a Traineeship or an Apprenticeship”.

Do you want to enrol on a full-time vocational programme? If you’re unable to attend the college’s open event contact Debbie Angel at SACC on 01702 445719 or email deborahangel@southend-adult.ac.uk

I’m an employer and I’d like to find out more about offering a work experience placement… Employers interested in finding out more about employing a young learner within their organisation should contact Debbie Angel at SACC on 01702 445719 or email deborahangel@southend-adult.ac.uk
