AAT Apprenticeships are formal, nationally recognised training programmes for ambitious individuals. Apprentices have the opportunity to achieve a qualification while developing hands-on skills and experience in the workplace.

Apprenticeships are available to both new and existing members of staff, existing staff you want to upskill or looking for new staff you want to train. A range of apprenticeship frameworks are suitable for staff in a variety of roles within different environments in Foundation, Advanced and Higher frameworks.

Changes to Apprenticeships

Accountancy apprenticeships are now part of the Apprenticeship Standards. This means that your staff will not only gain the AAT qualifications, but if they successfully complete the apprenticeship they will receive an Apprenticeship certificate which will be graded at a pass, merit or distinction depending on the result of their end point assessment.

The end point assessment consists of a 3 hour exam, a portfolio of evidence based on the standards and a reflective discussion.

Advanced AAT Accountancy Apprenticeship 

Your staff are required to have GCSE grade A*-C in English and maths before starting this apprenticeship.

There are two routes for the advanced apprenticeship.

If they already have achieved AAT level 2 Certificate in Accounting:

The programme will take 18 months. They will achieve AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.

If they do not have AAT level 2 Certificate in Accounting;

The programme will take 24 months.  They will complete the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting at the start of their apprenticeship then move onto gain an AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting.
